Step by Step Childcare
This link will take you to the first page of preschool themes. Scroll down and click in one of the boxes to get to a page with recommended books, songs, and fingerplays for that theme. This site is great for unique fingerplays and songs on a theme.
DLTK's Printable Crafts for Kids
This link will take you to DLTK's home page. This site was created by a mom as a way to link to other printable coloring pages and crafts on the web. Beware of rampant advertising. It may take you a few clicks to get to what you actually want, but the coloring pages print out very well!
Preschool Education
This site is devoted to materials for preschool education. The materials are free to use, print, and distribute. There is a navigation bar on the left side of the screen, with a link to "Music and Songs." Further sub-categories are listed, again on the left. Some songs have actions, some do not. From the main page there is also a link to "Arts and Crafts" with sub-categories on the left. Some crafts may require more supplies than can be realistically transported to a daycare.
Preschool Rainbow
This site is by Gayle, a retired early childhood educator, who has attempted to collect 30-plus years of experience and resources into a usable site for others. This website has creative activities, organized by theme, accessible via the menu bar on the left of the screen. The site allows users to print one copy of a resource from a website. This restriction should be no problem when printing off activity ideas for the librarian's use only. The font is big and easy to read, but this also makes the pages longer. Don't forget to scroll all the way to the bottom of the page!
Collaborative Summer Library Program
The past CSLP manuals are a treasure trove of craft and activity ideas for little people! The manuals are especially useful if you choose to read a book that corresponds with a past theme. Your library must have purchased the previous years' manual to use the printables within. Check in the manual for a list of limitations of use, as the graphics used from year to year are copyrighted.
