This week’s selection is a new title from our large print collection. Lauraine Snelling is a well-known name to readers of Christian Fiction. She writes mostly in series, but today’s book, Heaven Sent Rain, is a stand-alone novel. So, if you’ve wanted to try out this author but don’t want to commit to a series, this would be a good opportunity!
Dr. Dinah Taylor has worked hard as the CEO of her own dietary supplement company and likes the single life. So it is strange, even to her, when she buys a hungry looking little boy named Jonah and his dog Mutt breakfast one rainy morning. Soon one breakfast turns into a series of breakfasts, and the two develop a friendship. Then, when the dog needs emergency vet help in the middle of the night, Dinah discovers the boy’s mother is dying and becomes a new parent. To add to her busy life, Dinah can’t get the image of the vet who helped them out of her head. Dr. Garrett Miller is single and works with his sister in law at their family vet clinic. He leads a busy life, without a significant other, and likes it that way. On the side he draws cartoons and caricatures for his patients. After attempting to draw Jonah and Mutt three times, he has to admit that something about that case has stuck with him. With both Garrett and Dinah frosty towards each other, and Jonah and Mutt in need of support the three people and one dog keep running into each other. Through time, many rainy fall mornings, and prayers their relationship begins to change.
