Hi!  This is Rachel Malay, director at the Port Library in Beloit.   Next Thursday the library will have a program for adults on vintage aprons, including a display of some local collections. All attendees will be entered in a drawing for a free handmade apron.  Call the library by Tuesday if you want to attend. This week’s review comes to us courtesy of the library’s Youth Services Librarian, Andrea Weidenhaft.

I Love Dogs! by Sue Stainton and Bob Staake is a picture book that follows a little boy on his way to the pet shop to adopt a dog.  The young boy has to walk through the large town park on his way to the shop and he sees all different kinds of dogs.  At a sidewalk intersection the boy sees a long red dog in a blue and red plaid shirt. He also sees an old lady cuddling her cozy dog and big strong dog lifting up a trash can. While he’s crossing the bridge he sees racing dogs, chasing dogs, and a little crazy dog that has tangled up his owner! He stops at the water fountain in the park to take a look around. There are dogs playing Frisbee, giving their owners rides, and even riding in baby strollers. He is so happy, he shouts “I LOVE DOGS!”  Will he find a perfect, playful dog of his own or will he have to settle with playing with others?

The authors display the many different personalities and traits that make dogs such wonderful pets in this book full of colorful digitally animated pictures for young readers.

You can get the book reviewed here and more great titles to watch, read, listen to, or play with at the Port Library at 1718 N. Hersey in Beloit.  This is director Rachel Malay, saying “Thanks for checking us out!”
